Spirit, Soul and the Solstice

Today mercury enters Cancer. This means that the way we communicate and interpret feelings, thoughts and omens has shifted. We are more likely to hold onto feelings for longer and process them in solitude. Turning inward and gestating is wise however we must all be careful not to take things too personally or hold onto petty and overly precious sentiment. Feeling a shift towards heightened  intuition, vulnerability and sensitivity can leave us feeling alone and unprotected, wanting to run and take cover in a self imposed state of isolation. The new moon (forecast coming) will arrive on the 23rd to remind us that though we may pause, we are not cut off, trapped or forsaken in any way. The new moon will assure us that heightened emotional and psychic perception can connect and empower us all towards our goals and greater growth. Today is such an immense day of shift, not just mercurially but also because of the solstice.

Today is the longest day of the year, or for some of us, the shortest! Summer solstice marks the beginning of summer for the Northern hemisphere and brings the longest period of morning as well as the longest period of twilight. Winter solstice marks the first day of winter and is the has the shortest period of daylight and the longest night.

Wherever you are in the world, today should be a time of reflection, ritual and paying your respects.

Both spirit and soul is brought to the forefront of consciousness and is represented through fire and water. Honoring both your spirit and soul, the sun and the moon, your light and your shadow is integral today. Lighting your inner fire of spirit whilst also managing to let your soul float and flow in the watery womb of the universe is no easy task. Today however is the perfect time to try!

First of all pay respects to yourself. You have come so far. All of your past achievements, trials and tribulations have brought you here into this present moment. Pay respects to your guides, your ancestors and/or a goddess or deity. Honoring a guiding force right now is highly recommended, even if it is something you wouldn't normally do. You can call in some very powerful and generous influences that are going to help you in this next cycle.
